Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Delaware Valley Opens Norristown Office
Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Delaware Valley (CCCS) announces the opening of new office at 113 East Main Street in Norristown, Pa., effective August 4.
According to Patricia Hasson, president of CCCS, recent demand in the Norristown area prompted the need for an additional location. The new office will include both credit counseling and support staff, and offer a full range of services.
The Norristown office marks the organization’s eleventh location in the Delaware Valley, including the recently-relocated main office which is now at 1608 Walnut Street. in Philadelphia.
“One of our goals is to be accessible to our clients regardless of where they live,” said Hasson. “Offering our full range of services in Norristown will allow us to better serve our growing number of clients in that area.”
CCCS helps individuals and families gain control of their finances, reduce debt and achieve financial goals through a host of educational programs and counseling services. Founded in 1966, CCCS is headquartered in Philadelphia and has 58 employees at its offices throughout the Delaware Valley.
Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Delaware Valley (CCCS) and contest sponsor ING DIRECT celebrated the student finalists and announced the winners in the 9th Annual Student Poster Contest on May 22 at the ING DIRECT Café at 17th and Walnut Streets. The goal of the poster contest is to encourage students to focus on the importance of money management by designing a creative poster on a topic related to saving.
“Educating young people about spending and saving is as important as teaching them to read and write. Our annual student poster contest has been a great way to open up these conversations in the classroom.” said CCCS president, Patricia Hasson. “This year’s students, as always, did a fabulous job illustrating the theme, ‘Savings --- The Road to You Future.’”
Three students from each grade category – 3rd to 5th; 6th to 8th; and 9th to 12th – won Orange Savings Accounts worth $250 (1st place), $150 (second place), and $100 (third place). ING DIRECT donated the Orange Savings Accounts and cash prizes to help students get a jumpstart on savings. The posters will be included in a special commemorative calendar to be distributed to community and partner organizations and agencies throughout the region in the fall.

From Purses to Portfolios Kick-off Attracted Hundreds of Local Women
CCCSDV kicked off a new financial literacy program, From Purses to Portfolios, geared towards women on January 26th at Temple University. Over 275 women attended the opening event and took advantage of a full agenda with topics including Kissing Debt Goodbye to a highly interactive session from NBC10's Tracy Davidson on Understanding Credit and Identity Theft. Citi is the main sponsor for the program, which began in Delaware and is managed by the Delaware Money School.
Purses is not a one-time event. The goal of From Purses to Portfolios is to financially educate women over time. Ongoing classes are offered throughout the year, to build women's financial foundation and financial skills. Classes will be taught by CCCSDV educators as well as staff members of other nonprofits, financial institutions, and community organizations.
